Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce container sour cream
  • 1 Hass avocado cut into chunks
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a food processor or blender, add all ingredients.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • For a thinner consistency, add 1–2 tablespoons of water or milk until desired texture is reached.
  • Use ripe avocados for the best creamy texture and flavor.
  • Add extra lime juice for a brighter, tangier crema.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to help prevent browning.
  • This crema pairs well with tacos, burrito bowls, grilled chicken, fish, roasted vegetables, and nachos.
