1/4 cup packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 2 tablespoons honey 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon chili powder 2 cups pecan halves
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly brush or spray with oil.
In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, honey, salt, cayenne pepper, and chili powder.
Whisk the mixture together over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil.
Add the pecan halves and stir until all of the pecans are evenly coated with the glaze.
Transfer the coated pecans to the prepared baking sheet and spread them into an even layer.
Bake for 8 minutes, or until the pecans are lightly browned and fragrant.
Remove from the oven and stir the pecans to redistribute the glaze.
Allow the pecans to cool completely on the baking sheet. As they cool, the glaze will harden.
Break apart any clusters and serve.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
For a milder flavor, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper.
These pecans are delicious sprinkled over salads, roasted vegetables, oatmeal, or yogurt.
Allow the nuts to cool completely before storing to maintain their crisp texture.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
For holiday gifting, package in decorative jars or cellophane bags.
