Equipment

  • baking dish
  • mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe peaches halved and pits removed
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Optional for serving:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Whipped cream
  • Greek yogurt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375*F and lightly grease a small baking dish.
  • Prepare the peaches: slice the peaches in half and remove the pits. Place them cut-side up in a baking dish.
  • Add the maple vanilla flavor: Drizzle the maple syrup and vanilla extract evenly over the peaches.
  • Make the crumble topping: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, pecans, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until the mixture forms a crumble texture.
  • Top the peaches: Spoon the crumble mixture over the center of each peach half.
  • Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the peaches are tender and the topping is golden and slightly crisp.
  • Serve warm: let them cool slightly, then serve with ice cream, whipped cream, or yogurt if you like.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm peaches: they should give slightly when pressed but still hold their shape.
  • Don’t skip the pinch of salt: it balances the sweetness and enhances the flavor of the peaches.
  • Chop the pecans finely: smaller pieces help create a better crumble texture.
  • Let them rest before serving: allow the peaches to cool for about 5 minutes so the juices settle and the topping crisps up.
  • Try grilling the peaches first: for an extra twist, grill the peach halves for a couple of minutes before baking to add a subtle smoky flavor.
