Lavender Fields Forever

Sharing is caring!

Yesterday morning I decided to do something a little different from the norm. I took an hour out of my day to go spend some time with nature. Not that nature isn’t all around us. I just wanted something a bit different from my usual daily travels.

One of the many wonderful things about living in the Portland area is that there so many cool things to see just a few minutes from the city. I decided to take a trip out to a Lavender farm and pick some fresh Lavender.

It was only about a ten minute drive from where I live. As I drove out there, I passed several interesting spots along the way. A U-pick Blueberry Farm, an Alpaca Farm, 3 different Wineries and an amazing looking nursery. I will have to plan on those for another day.

It was a warm sunny day and the drive was so beautiful that the 10 minute trip almost seemed too short. When I arrived at Mountainside Lavender Farm I received a friendly welcome from the owner on my way in.

The sign on the way in said to check in at the gift shop first, so off I went. As I made my way into the little gift shop/store I was offered a basket and some scissors to use to pick my Lavender. I chose my basket and scissors and headed back outside.

There were two different fields to pick from. The upper field, which has a view of the valley below and the lower field which was much closer. I chose the lower field since I only had a short amount of time.

So off I went, with my basket in tow, to pick my treasure. The fields were absolutely gorgeous! A sea of varying colors of blues, pinks and purples and the luscious scent of Lavender in the air. I was in heaven. I have always dreamed of having a Lavender Farm, this was the next best thing.

First, I just walked around and took it all in. There were so many different varieties to choose from. Fluffy, spiky, pink, white, blue, purple. All of them beautiful. I decided to get a little bit of each.

What an amazingly beautiful day. The Bumble Bees were having a hayday. Bouncing from bloom to bloom, gathering the sweet nectar.

This was exactly what I needed to refresh my mind. Sometimes you just gotta get away, even if it’s for just an hour. And I got this beautiful bunch to take home and enjoy for days to come.

What kind of things do you like to do to recharge and refresh? Getting out and spending time with nature always seems to work for me, and the sunshine!

Have a beautiful day!
