Orange Cardamom French Toast
Orange Cardamom French Toast: Buttery Brioche dipped in a mixture of eggs, cream and sweet spices then fried in butter and topped with powdered sugar. Oh, and then drizzled with some real maple syrup, of course. Yum!
French toast is one of those things that is so simple to make, but yet it tastes so decadent. We tend to save it for a special occasion. I think that with all the craziness that we have experienced these past couple of years, it’s time to live a little. Eat the French toast! Don’t save it for a special occasion. Heck, have a side of bacon while your at it!
Hey, I’m all about eating healthy but sometimes you just gotta splurge. Making this Orange Cardamom French Toast is a great place to start.
How to make Orange Cardamom French Toast
- Start with a nice loaf of brioche. I used these brioche baguettes. Slice into thick pieces. You want them to be thick enough so they don’t fall apart when soaking up the egg mixture.
- In a bowl whisk the eggs together until well blended, then whisk in the remaining ingredients.
- Heat up the butter in a skillet, not too hot though, you don’t want it to burn.
- dip the bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Let it sit there a minute to soak up the yummy custard.
- Carefully place the soaked bread in the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan. Cook until golden brown and then flip with a spatula and cook until browned on the other side.
- Be sure not too cook too fast or the inside will be raw.
- Remove from the pan and place on a plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and a bit of orange zest.
- Serve with warm maple syrup.
