Hot summer days call for cold refreshing beverages. This Summer Peach White Sangria is the perfect answer to your summertime thirst! Peaches just scream summer, don’t they? There’s nothing better than biting into a fresh ripe summer peach. The sweet juices running out the sides of your mouth and dripping off your fingers.
It reminds me of the time I drove my Aunt Barbara up to see some family, out in the country, just outside of Seattle. On the way back to home we stopped by a little fruit stand and picked up some fresh perfectly ripe peaches. They were so sweet and juicy. I don’t think any of them made it back home with us! Those were the best peaches I ever had! I will never forget that trip with my sweet Aunt.
Ok, so here’s how to make this refreshing summer sipper:
Wash and thinly slice one large peach (I used white peaches but any fresh ripe peach will do). If peaches are on the small side, use two.
I also added fresh apricot to this recipe for some extra yumminess.
Place the sliced fruit into a pitcher. Then add the wine and Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
Cover and place the pitcher in the refrigerator for several hours, allowing the flavors to marry. The longer the better!
When ready to serve add one 12 ounce can of peach seltzer water and stir to combine. Serve in chilled glasses over ice and garnish with fresh peach slices and fresh mint. Enjoy!
Tips for making Peach White Sangria:
- The best wines for white sangria: Torronte’s ( this is what I used), Albariño, , Viognier, Pinot Gris, Chenin Blanc or Moscato (for a sweeter sangria). You can also use a white blend containing any of these varietals
- For the best tasting sangria add all of the ingredients, except for the seltzer, the day day before and let it mingle in the fridge overnight.
- If you like your sangria on the sweeter side, use a sweet wine or add some simple syrup until it’s to your liking.
- For something a little different, add some fresh herbs like mint or basil. A bit of lavender simple syrup would nice as well.
- Make sure it is well chilled and served over ice. So refreshing!
