Cinco de Mayo is almost here. Time to celebrate with delicious food and drink. Guacamole is the perfect party starter to kick off the celebration. And this one does not disappoint!
How to make The Best Guacamole:
It all starts with the ingredients
- Make sure to start with Avocados that are perfectly ripe.
- Always use Haas Avocados. They are creamy and flavorful. Other varieties can be watery tasting and lack that creamy texture and flavor.
- Always use fresh ingredients like fresh lime and garlic. The flavor is better. Jarred garlic and bottled lime juice will work in a pinch but fresh is so much better.
Method
- Cut avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pit and skin. Cut avocado halves into chunks.
- Place avocado in a mixing bowl.
- Mince the garlic, red onion, tomato and cilantro. Add to the bowl with the avocado.
- Add the fresh squeezed lime juice and salt.
- Mash and stir together with a potato masher, leaving some chunks. You can use a fork if you don’t have a potato masher.
- Make sure ingredients are well combined.
- Taste and adjust salt if needed.
How to serve Guacamole:
- Use as a dip with warm tortilla chips or corn chips.
- Add to tacos, burritos and other Mexican foods.
- Spread onto toast and add your favorite toppings to make a delicious avocado toast.
- Mix into some ranch dressing for veggie dipping or salad dressing.
- Top with shrimp or crispy bacon for a little twist on the traditional guacamole.
- Use to make Mexican layer dip.
- Add to a BLT or other sandwiches and wraps.
- Use as a baked potato topper
- The possibilities are endless. Have fun and get creative with it.
